God’s Word on … The Nature of God
God’s Word on … The Nature of God
- “God is love.” (I John 4:16) God does not just have love, He is Love. His love is unconditional. A beautiful song says it so well – “nothing you can do can make Him love more, and nothing you can do can make Him shut the door.” You are the apple of His eye (Psalm 17:8). You are the object of His affections!
- “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) What determines the worth of an item? – the price you are willing to pay for it. God values you so much that He paid for you with the shed blood of His only Son. Everything Jesus did, He did for you!
- “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22,23) God has given you the privilege of starting out each new day with a clean slate – not because of who you are, but because of “whose” you are. When feelings of guilt try to come on you because of something that happened in the past, remind yourself that – “Yesterday ended last night!” (Rom. 8:1).
- “My grace is sufficient for you; for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” (II Cor. 12:9) Grace is unmerited favor. Jesus became like you so you could become like Him. When He exchanged the strength of His deity for the weakness of your human flesh, you were perfected in God’s eyes. Today He stands ready to manifest whatever strength you need to replace the weakness with which you struggle. Now that’s GRACE!
- “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control!” (Gal. 5:22,23) This scripture describes the very character of God. These are the attributes He brings to a relationship with you. These are the attributes He desires to see work through you to others.
- “…the goodness of God leads you to repentance.” (Rom. 2:4) God’s goodness drew you to Him, and His goodness will lead you to the abundant life Jesus died to give you, if only you choose to follow. God has a specific plan for your life (Jer. 29:11) and it is enveloped by His goodness.
- “I AM THAT I AM.” (Ex. 3:14) This is who God says He is. Read the statement and put emphasis on the word “that.” He is saying that if you need salvation, He is your Savior; healing, He is your healer; deliverance; He is your deliverer; provision, He is your provider. Whatever you need, He is your answer!
