God’s All Year’s Resolutions
God’s All Year’s Resolutions
Malachi 3:6a (Amplified Bible)
“For I am the LORD, I do not change [but remain faithful to My covenant with you]
Hebrews 13:8 ( Amplified Bible)
Jesus Christ is [eternally changeless, always] the same yesterday and today and forever
It’s the New Year and many of us are doing what we always do at the beginning of a new year. We are making resolutions in areas of our lives where we feel we need to change. That is not all bad – it is okay to reflect on our lives and desire to do better. One well-known minister of the Gospel noted that the problem comes when we depend on our own efforts to bring about change. He suggested that this struggle is as old as Man himself. It is the struggle between what became known as the Law (what Man can do) vs. GRACE (what God has already done for Man.) Think Adam and Eve and what God had done for them (everything) and their buying the devil’s lie that God had not done enough for them; they needed to do more.
It rarely ends well when we depend on ourselves to bring change to our lives. At the least we feel down because we have failed once again to change, and the most, we can become cynical about the possibility of ever seeing change.
This minister spoke of resolutions that are fail-proof. They are found in the Bible and they are God’s resolutions for Man. Webster’s American Dictionary of the English Language cites one definition of resolution as, “fixed purpose or determination of mind.” The Bible in a nutshell is God’s fixed purpose and His determination of mind, or simply put, His Will for man. Let’s look at just three of His resolution to get started.
- Genesis 1:26” Let us make man in Our Image, according to our likeness, and let them have dominion…over all the earth…” This is His first and most important resolution and it clearly states His will for all people – to be more like Him.
- Psalm 138:8 is a second powerful “God resolution.” It says, “The Lord perfects that which concerns me…” It is His responsibility to get the job of changing you done.
- Philippians 2:13 (NLT) could not put it more simply: “For God is working in you to give you the desire and the power to do what pleases you.” Could it be that the change you want to see in your life was put in you by God Himself? And, that He is ready and willing to use His power to bring it to pass.
God’s Resolutions are found from beginning to end in the Bible. They are not magic bullets that change things instantly. But by getting revelation of the truths of God’s Word and speaking them out in faith, they become the foundation for change that will be the result not of our efforts, but of God’s amazing GRACE. We have the potential to find ourselves living the life promised in Ephesians 3:20 (NLT): “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” ![]()
