See Jesus Living Inside You

Romans 8:11 (New Living Translation)
¹¹ The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

Have you ever heard someone say, “I just can’t get that picture out of my head?” Whether it is a multi-car pile-up on the interstate, a screaming child grimacing in pain, or the sight of a community leveled by a natural disaster, there are just some things that are difficult to forget. Each represents the work of the enemy and ultimately has the potential to weaken our faith. It stands to reason that if the enemy can present things that become pictures we have trouble getting out of our heads, there are pictures we can get that are inspired by Holy Spirit that will become the antithesis of those horrible images.

A well-known minister of the Gospel recently shared a visual that should become one such picture. He started by noting that Romans 8:11 gives us a Truth from the Word that should absolutely help ground us in our faith. The scripture says that Jesus lives in us and He gives our mortal bodies (not our heavenly bodies) life. The thought of the Creator of heaven and earth residing in us as believers is almost too much to wrap our heads around. This minister then offered this help – think “Hoover Dam.” Hoover Dam is a dam in the western United States. At full capacity it can hold 31 million acre-feet of water. It can provide 1.3 million people with electricity. Simply put, Hoover Dam is a massive power-producing structure. We should Google “picture of Hoover Dam” and then keep that image in our heads.  When we connect that image to Romans 8:11, we now have a picture in our minds that helps us focus on the life that is available to us because of the power of Jesus living in us.

How do we translate the picture we have in our heads into a manifestation of Jesus’ power into our lives? We apply the same principle that is applied to the Hoover Dam. Electricity is produced by the release of water; the life of God within us is manifested when we release faith. Don’t worry about not having enough faith. Jesus Himself said that working faith only has to be “the size of a mustard seed.” Secondly, we are told that it was God who deposits a measure of faith into the lives of each believer.  Therefore, our faith comes from His faith. Putting those two things together means the only thing we have left to do is say “I believe it and I receive it!”

Becoming “God inside-minded” is a game-changer. Having a visual like Hoover Dam can assist us in focusing on the power of Jesus within us when life throws us a curve and we start to feel defeated.

Meditating on this incredible truth that “Resurrection Life is quickening our mortal bodies” is the first step out of trouble!
