You Were Never Meant to Do Life Alone

You Were Never Meant to Do Life Alone

I Corinthians 15:10 (Amplified Bible Classic Ed.)
10 But by the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not [found to be] for nothing (fruitless and without effect). In fact, I worked harder than all of them [the apostles], though it was not really I, but the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God which was with me.

It’s January, the official “Do Over” month of the year. The New Year’s Resolution lists are long, the gym membership lists are growing and when we sit down to eat, the portions have become significantly smaller; all in the attempt to “do” life better in this new year than we did last year.

The single most consistent factor is all of our attempts to do better is ourselves. And, this goes to the root of the problem. The truth is we are not wired to operate alone. In the scripture above it states quite clearly, that we are who we are by the GRACE of God. GRACE is unmerited favor, meaning God’s GRACE is something we can never deserve or earn. It is a gift. And it is the basis upon which God wants us to lead our lives. He wants us to depend on His leading for everything we do in life – spiritual and non-spiritual.

What does that mean as we begin a new year? There is nothing wrong with setting out to have a better year than last. The fact is we should always be experiencing growth in our lives. But for natural growth to be lasting it must first come from spiritual growth. Everything from joining the gym to settling for smaller portions on your plate are all things God wants to be involved in. Why?  Because He loves you and He is a hands-on Father who wants the best for you and that only happens when He is involved in the everyday happenings of your life.

If you are struggling to know the God who is up-close and personal, consider this (and insert your name instead of Jacob and Israel):

Isaiah 43:1-4 (The Message)

43 1-4 But now, God’s Message,
the God who made you in the first place, Jacob,
the One who got you started, Israel:
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you.
I’ve called your name. You’re mine.
When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you.
When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.
When you’re between a rock and a hard place,
it won’t be a dead end—
Because I am God, your personal God,
The Holy of Israel, your Savior.

What a great way to start 2026 – doing life with “your personal God…and Savior!” Anchor Tombstone 16px
